Creative Resource

Why use a recruiter?

We hope the last few months have been kind to you.  They have been challenging in so many different ways.  We have spent the last few weeks speaking to many agency owners and the one constant is…. that no two experiences have been the same.  Some agencies have been hit very hard and will really struggle to recover, others are doing fine and some are really thriving to the point of needing to expand and hire extra staff.

Whoopee we’re growing!

So if you need extra resource, it’ll save money to stick a job on LinkedIn and wait for the applications to flood in.  We’ll do it ourselves and save a ton of cash.  What’s not to love?

Except it’s not quite as simple as that.

You put the ad on and uh ho, the floodgates don’t just open, they cascade. But that’s ok you now have a ton of lovely applicants to go through.

Hang on, how many are right for you?  Yikes how many portfolios and cv’s do you actually have time to look through?  What else can you be doing with your time?

Or even worse no flood of applications and you’ve paid for an ad that’s brought you nothing more that a few people who quite fancy the idea of being a designer, or haven’t the faintest idea what an account manager does, but it sounds fun and a nice change and they’re sure they have the transferrable skills.

LinkedIn handily tells us how many applications there have been to jobs and a whizz through one day this week shows, amongst other things, that there are an awful lot of games designer jobs in the Manchester area.  But in other news..

One Senior Designer job had 7 applications in a week. It had so many red flags in it I’m really not surprised.

Another has 124 applications, some late nights there.

And I really wouldn’t want to be the person reviewing cv’s and portfolios for the Graphic Designer role at BBC Sport, it has 749 applications!

Ok joking over, what’s the alternative? How do we do it?

We probably already have your shortlist.  We spend hours and hours every week of every month reviewing cv’s and portfolios, interviewing people, finding out what they can and cant do, what they want to do now and where they want to be a few years downstream,  That’s our day job and we love it.

When tasked with a vacancy we tell candidates all about you, what your good at, why people like working for you, what your dreams and plans are.  We get them to buy into you before they have ever spoken to you.  In fact we become your employer brand advocate. We’ll also help you to get real and avoid looking for unicorns.

One new service we are offering is to filter your cv’s down to a shortlist, for a fee.  We won’t interview the shortlist for you, find out if they’re a good fit etc, but we will filter down those 150 applications to a max agreed number that actually match your brief.  Or you can pass the whole headache to us and voila we’ll do all the stressy bits and present you with 4/5 people who can do the job, would love to work for you, and with our flexible payments plan, we’ll share the risk with you.

Not for everyone, times are tough we know, but if you’d like a chat to see if you’d like us to work together just give Julie or Phil a shout.
