“Do Good by Doing Less” Two+Two winning entry goes live.

Two+Two is an annual event, bringing students and the marketing industry together to tackle a thorny social issue. Every year we hope Two+Two will make a difference: to the students who come along and to the cause it supports. We look forward to the stories of placements fulfilled, jobs accepted, confidence gained. We even trended on Twitter with #FirstAidLifeSaved for local charity Millie’s Trust in 2020, just before the world tilted on it’s axis.

In 2023 our hopes were surpassed. In response to the climate crisis the world faces, Two+Two teamed up with Stockport council’s proactive Climate Action Now team, headed by ex BBC Head of Sustainability, Nick Leslie.  Together we crafted a brief, “Beyond Recycling”, which tackled the stark truth that whilst plastic only accounts for 3% of greenhouse gas emissions, many people feel they have done their bit if they put their recycle bins out once a fortnight.

The incredibly talented Pink Horses, who won Gold with their response, nailed a key truth, that whilst we need people to rethink every part of their lives, most of us are a bit lazy. “Do Good by Doing Less” was a standout for the judging panel, in a strong final shortlist.  Their big idea was nailed in a day, and time spent post event working with the Stockport CAN team and creative agency APS Group,  made their idea a reality.

“Do Good by Doing Less” launched at Stockport’s 2023 Climate Summit, with LESSons packs sent to every school and college in Stockport. Full of lesson plans, videos and marketing material, the climate change campaign packs will guide students through the climate change facts and challenges in a fun and informative way. Thousands of students learning how to do good whilst doing less and creating their own climate change campaigns.

Mind blown. You can see one of the five key pieces they ideated and produced below.
