Today’s recruitment market will often see candidates at a number of different interview stages with multiple companies at once. Candidates need to know more about your company than ever before.
It’s not unusual for a member of the Creative Resource team to speak to a candidate who has two second interviews lined up and an offer on the table. Candidates are becoming very selective, and their selection no longer comes down to just the role on offer.
5 things candidates need to know about your company
Flexibility
Can you offer candidates flexibility in their roles? Are you able to offer hybrid or remote working?
Recent polls on our LinkedIn Page show 51% of respondents would like a mix of remote and office working, with a further 40% open to remote only roles.
Another poll showed 60% valued hybrid working over any other kind of benefit, with flexible working coming in second at 34%.
It’s clear to see flexible working is dominating candidate requirements as we enter 2022, so candidates need to know whether you offer flexible working or not. And if you do, what it realistically looks like in your company.
Diversity
Many companies have overhauled their diversity policies in recent years. Hopefully those polices are now displayed in the reality of day today life in your company but how do you convey this to candidates?
78% of employees want their employers to be inclusive and it is important to them to see more than just a dry HR document about diversity. How does your policy impact your workforce? How are you striving to further your approach? What kind of diversity training is available?
Are you able to demonstrate diversity to prospective candidates?
Culture
How does your company culture stand out from the crowd? Perhaps for your company this is summed up with a simple but clever sentence that makes people think “yes I understand exactly what that means!” Or maybe you need a video that explains it? Can you talk about the ways candidates will be valued and treated within your company?
Do you offer benefits? Are you able to value your employees in other proactive ways? Do they feel able to approach management with personal and work issues?
Business Development
Does your company want to grow and become the biggest in the sector? Are you focused on a niche market? Are you really happy in your groove just where you are? Have you experienced a huge period of growth and now you’re in a phase of catching your breath?
Candidates need to know your aims for the future and the trajectory of the organisation they are hoping to enter. Some will want somewhere they can work hard but feel comfortable, others will want to sink their teeth into your world domination bid and clamour for that edge of the seat feeling.
Personal Development
Time and again, candidates ask us what their potential is for growth within a company. Is the company well known for promoting from within, is there a personal training budget or access to training courses?
How quickly would promotion or development within a role be on the cards?
Are you able to tell candidates what growth looks like within your organisation – is there a way you can display this?
Why you’re recruiting
Savvy candidates often want to know the reason the vacancy exists.
Is this a new role and for what reason?
Why is the previous employee leaving?
Does the company have new clients or business wins?
